The Public Health Division works to improve lifelong health for all Oregonians by promoting health and preventing the leading causes of death, disease and injury in the state. The division consists of the Office of the State Public Health Director, the Center for Health Protection, the Center for Prevention and Health Promotion and the Center for Public Health Practice. The division oversees health promotion and prevention activities, health care facilities and licensing, environmental health regulation, public health emergency preparedness and epidemiological outbreak investigations. The division oversees the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory, which supports state and local infectious disease control efforts, preventing metabolic disorders detectable at birth and assuring the quality of testing in clinical and environmental laboratories.
