Duties and Responsibilities: The 24-member Board on Public Safety Standards and Training includes members representing city, county and state administrators, professionals representing each of the public safety disciplines and a private citizen appointed by the governor. The board
establishes minimum standards for recruitment and training of city, county and state police; corrections officers; parole and probation officers; fire service personnel; emergency telecommunicators; and
private security providers. The board operates in partnership with the DPSST which implements the
standards set by the board. The board is supported by six advisory and policy committees representing the public safety disciplines.
