Present Duties

The Addictions and Mental Health Division is responsible for delivering services that prevent and treat mental illness and addiction. Services for alcohol, tobacco, other drug addictions, and problem gambling are delivered locally to adults and children through community mental health programs, contracted providers, and state-operated psychiatric facilities. About 20,000 Oregonians receive these services each month.
The state hospital system operates two facilities with the capacity to serve a total of 794 Oregonians. Services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Oregon State Hospital has 620 beds on the Salem campus and will have 174 in the new Junction City facility. Blue Mountain Recovery Center in Pendleton was closed in 2014.
