Landscape Contractors Board > Web site
Created in 1972, the State Landscape Contractors Board licenses landscape contracting businesses and individual landscape construction professionals who must demonstrate minimum competency by passing a comprehensive examination. Landscape contracting businesses must post a surety bond, submit evidence of liability insurance and workers’ compensation insurance, if applicable. Each landscape contracting business must either be owned by a licensed landscape construction professional or the business must employ a licensed landscape construction professional to supervise the landscape activities of the business and directly supervise all unlicensed employees of the business.
The board receives and investigates consumer complaints which it settles through dispute resolution processes including mediation and arbitration, answers questions from the public and the industry, and enforces compliance to the laws governing the landscape construction industry.
There are approximately 1,100 licensed landscape contracting businesses and approximately 1,300 licensed individual landscape construction professionals in Oregon. The governor appoints the seven-member board to serve three-year terms. Five members are from the landscape construction industry and two are public members.
