Present Duties
The Insurance Division works to ensure the financial soundness of insurance companies, the availability and affordability of insurance, and the fair treatment of policyholders. The division enforces Oregon’s insurance code, licenses insurance companies and producers (agents) doing business in Oregon, examines insurers for solvency and compliance with insurance law, and approves insurance products to be offered to the public. The division also reviews rates charged for insurance products, provides information to help consumers make informed decisions about insurance, and investigates consumer complaints against insurance companies and producers (agents).
