The Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists requires licensed professional counselors and licensed marriage and family therapists to meet high education, experience and competency standards. The board was established in 1989 to set licensing requirements and adopt a code of ethics for licensees as a way to protect mental health services consumers. The board holds licensed counselors and therapists accountable to ensure ethical and legal provision of services.
The board consists of three licensed professional counselors, two licensed marriage and family therapists, one university graduate faculty member and two public members. There are four people on staff at the board’s office in Salem.
