Present Duties
The Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners (OBCE) was created in 1915 and is responsible for administering the Chiropractic Practice Act and establishing the rules and regulations governing the practice of chiropractic in Oregon. The seven-member board is composed of five chiropractic physicians and two public members who are appointed by the governor to three-year terms.
The OBCE regulates the practice of chiropractic, promotes quality and ensures competent ethical health care. As of July 2012, the board licenses 1,508 active and 323 inactive chiropractic physicians and 1,391 certified chiropractic assistants. The board’s programs include application, examination, continuing education, public information and investigation of complaints. If violations are found, the board issues disciplinary actions and/or rehabilitation plans to meet competency standards.
