Woman Suffrage Centennial Web Exhibit

Men study literature through the window of the headquarters of the National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage circa 1911. The newly-formed association, located in New York City, resulted from the merger of several state anti-suffrage associations. The association argued that voting would have a negative influence on women and compromise their valuable community work. By 1916, the national association coordinated the work of 25 state organizations. (Library of Congress)
